US Soccer was founded in 1913 as the United States Football Association. It was accepted into FIFA and became the governing body of soccer in the country. Now it oversees Major League Soccer, National Women's League Soccer, American Youth Soccer Organization, and many other members, as well as being in charge of the national teams.
